Modern Edge Ortho Becomes Pittsburgh Area’s First ActivArmor Provider
ActivArmor and Modern Edge Ortho announce Pittsburgh-area access to custom 3D-printed waterproof casts and splints.
Modern Edge Sports & Orthopedic Medicine is now the first provider in the Pittsburgh area to offer ActivArmor custom 3D-printed waterproof casts and splints.
The launch brings a new approach to local fracture care. Each ActivArmor device is shaped to the patient, while its breathable, washable, and waterproof open design allows airflow and access to the skin. It can also make showers and everyday hygiene more manageable when permitted by the treating provider.
A new option for Pittsburgh-area patients
Modern Edge Ortho, the dedicated orthopedic medicine division of PT Family Medicine, provides sports medicine and nonoperative orthopedic care for patients and athletes recovering from fractures, sprains, sports injuries, and work-related injuries. The practice also treats people managing joint pain or working to maintain an active lifestyle.
Led by Dr. Michael Wong, Modern Edge Ortho is designed to bridge the gap between primary care and orthopedic surgery.
Adding ActivArmor expands the choices available to Pittsburgh-area patients whose recovery must still fit around work, school, family responsibilities, training, and everyday routines. The open lattice design gives patients access to wash and dry the skin. When cleared by the treating provider, its waterproof construction can allow showering, swimming, and appropriate activity without wrapping the device in plastic or keeping it away from water.
